A Reserch on the Effects of a Therapy Program of Yoga Therapy Program Employing Yoga and Dance Sports on Improving Self-esteem of the High-risk Group of Dementia

Abstract
In this study, yoga therapy program carried out to examine the effects of self-esteem. The target is hign risk group with dementia. The study subjects were dementia prevention program participants in geriatric centers in Seoul. The increase of older-than-60-year population may cause. Primary screening (MMSE-KC) and a secondary inspection (CERAD-K) for high-risk cases being diagnosed with dementia in the third stage of a qualified medical professional only to determine the person to a drop in cognitive function were selected as target. Targrt were performing a yoga therapy program and dance sports programs. The self-esteem test were performing programs before and after. Yoga program was attended 12 people and Dance Sports program was attended 11 people. The 16-session program was conducted by 8 weeks (90-minute lesson, twice a week). Data was analyzed using Minitab 4.0 to verify effects of each program. The results of this study are as follows. First, yoga therapy program have a meaningful effect to improve self-esteem. Second, dance sport program have not a meaningful effect to improve self-esteem. This study was to detect effects of yoga program and dance-sports program for high-risk group with dementia. Based on the results of this study, it can be said that yoga program have positive impacts on self-esteem for high-risk group of dementia. These results could suggest that yoga therapy program can be applied to high-risk old man group of dementia.
